The Bible does not derogate gambling as a sin. It does not mention any adverse statements about lottery or betting as well. However, the Bible cautions. The Bible has always warned people from running behind money. Because, running behind money will only bring disappointment. And with it misery.

The Bible also encourages people to get rich slowly and steadily, using ethical way. Getting rich quickly is discouraged. Which means the Bible actually asks people to stay away from gambling, as it tempts people to get rich in quick time.

Now for the big question. Is gambling wrong? The issue of gambling being right or wrong is subjective. Gambling is in essence a waste of hard-earned money. You are giving yourself a chance to get rich. But at the same time you are also giving yourself a chance to lose money. You might say that to gain something, you have to lose something. But what if you lose everything?

Gambling is a worthless activity. It might help you win, but can never give you the feeling of success. It is as useless as spending money on a tasteless expensive meal that you ate because others did. Even if you get lucky, every day may not be a Sunday. There is no gambler is the world who has had a successful run on all days.

First Timothy 6:10 mentions that running behind money is running behind unhappiness. Even if you get it, you will realize that it was not worth the pursuit. So you end up running behind more money thinking that more money will give happiness. Suggested reads are Hebrews 13:5, and Mathews 6:24.

Gambling has existed from long ago. Historical records indicate the presence of gambling in the ancient Roman Empire. That time, gambling was an activity to relax. But now, it has turned into something that has become competitive and income-generating.
Anthropologists have recovered things that indicate gambling has existed in China as early as two thousand three hundred BC. Not just China, gambling has existed and was very much part of ancient India. Even Egyptians took to gambling.

Anthropologists recovered a set of dices made in ivory. Which clearly indicates that some kind of gambling activity did exist. The dices were as old as one thousand five hundred BC. Now that’s quite some time back.Anthropologists have found that somewhere in history gambling was banned. In England, under King Henry the seventh, records suggested that King Henry banned gambling. He felt that his soldiers were neglecting national duty, and spending more time gambling.

It has also been found that blackjack and poker were invented in the East. In China, paper money was used to gamble. Poker and blackjack used similar concepts of using money directly to gamble. What started off as gambling with money, became gambling with cards. The only difference was that paper money was replaced with cards.

Cards came into Europe. Card makers used royal ranks to identify each card. So you had the Queens, Kings, Jokers, Spades, and so on.

It is clear that gambling has come a long way. Casinos of today have made gambling into a sophisticated leisure sport. When America got its independence, it set up Casinos to encourage people to spend some to gain more.

What is gambling? Is it something to do with psychology? Is it a form of rebellious behavior? There have been two points of view on this. Gambling is normal behavior, but a slightly more extended version of it. Secondly, gambling is behavior that deviates from the normal. So we can say that there are two kinds of gamblers. The deviant ones and the slightly normal ones.

Assumptions run amok when the issue of gambling comes into picture. People have a tendency to think that gambling is self-destruction. They are also of the belief that gambling is an activity of criminals, and bad people who want to risk money to make more money. Gambling holds its status on the same podium as doing drugs and alcohol. One must ask why people treat gambling this way.

Psychologists have been studying gamblers from many decades. They are of the opinion that gamblers can be diagnosed with symptoms of gambling. This does not mean that gambling is a disease. We do not know if it is an addiction yet.

Psychologists contend that gamblers can be reformed. Some gamblers are affected with neurotic problems and subdue their problems with gambling, which is risky, thrilling, depressing, and ecstatic, all the same time.Psychologists have derived ways to help people come out of gambling. They look into the past history of the gambler and understand the kind of childhood that gambler has had. They also determine current hardships, apprehensions, and fears. After which, they get an understanding of the gambler’s ambitions, and the reason behind these ambitions. Such data provide useful when psychologists come up with a recovery plan.

If gambling gives you a high, there could be a substitute that could give you the same feeling. Have you not seen how people chew chewing gums when they want to eat sweets? It’s a substitute. Initially it might feel unsatisfying, but you get the same results.

Substitute therapy is a new approach to treating addictive behaviors. Patients are given substitutes of certain behaviors, that gives them same result, but with absolutely no or miniscule side effects. Like the nicotine tables for smoke-addicts.

Gambling brings along with it a certain package of feelings. Feelings of thrill, fantasy, elation, depression, and suspense. People addicted to these feelings go after it. They pursue it unknowing of the fact that more than the game, they are addicted to the feelings associated with it.

Sports such as mountain biking give the same sense of suspense, thrill, and achievement that gambling does. You can try go-karting, and rock-climbing as well. All these sport are exhilarating, and emotionally-draining. They peel you of your emotional energy. You will need more emotional power then physical power to overcome the odds.

Some people take gambling because it is masculine. To be filled with feelings of masculinity, you can take up sport like boxing and rugby. You will be charged with masculine energy everyday. There will be no doubt in your mind on your prowess and ability.

If gambling is your hobby, substitute it with your next best hobby. For example, if you are good at painting, why not spend your free time painting, and donating the proceeds of the sales to underprivileged children? There is no greater high than this.

There are more than 1,000 casinos in the United States and, with over 86% of the U.S population having gambled at least once in their life, there is no telling how many of people are addicted to the risk and possibility of making easy cash. Perhaps, instead of only individuals, we are a Nation addicted to gambling.

For, while gambling in casinos may not be for everyone, there is a place where players at different levels can come together with low risk: the neighborhood Poker Night. Even if we are not playing poker then we are playing the lotto, sitting in our own Chicago apartments betting online, or playing another card game.

At least in our own homes we make up our the rules. If you are thinking of getting together with some friends and introducing your own regular Poker Night, here are a few things to consider.

Have players each bring a type of food to share, or have them take turns bringing food, so that the burden of feeding a hungry group does not fall on one person.

Spice things up by playing a variety of games and welcome new players. You may get used to your Poker buddies, but share the love. Guys, don’t forget the ladies, and gals, let a guy in once in awhile.

Keep it light by playing with small amounts of cash or something other than cash. This lessens the possibility of fights, someone losing their rent money, or becoming addicted to the game. Poker Nights are a great way to enjoy the thrill of the game with low risks and lots of fun.

In America millions of people can’t escape the cobweb of gambling. They are addicted to it so much that they feel like riding a tiger and not coming down, lest they be eaten. Gambling can lift the morale to new heights. It can also plunge it to desperate lows. Out of millions of people who gamble, some seriously need help. They can’t help themselves stop being gamblers. If someone told them how.

Gambling has catastrophic effects on relationships. A gamblers world revolves around money. Monetary things come between relationships. Financial crisis can slide the impatient gambler to pits of no return. The gambler will be left stranded on the street, waiting for the last bus that has gone left long back, and never to return again.

Gambling is disorder. It is an act of compulsion. People affected by it do not seem to know a way out of it. That’s because it is an impulse disorder. Almost like smoking and drinking. Willpower, and the need to change are the only solutions to come out the rut of gambling addiction.

The problem many gamblers face is when they lose a lot of money. To make it up they gamble more. They might lose more. But then they think, ”well, I lost enough, let me chug on for some more time, I might get a windfall.”

It might or might not happen. But the gambler just wants to make it big. When the gamblers treasury starts clinking again, the impulse disorder picks up from its slumber. And off the gambler goes the wild gambling way.

Counseling, self-therapy, meditation, and spiritual enlightening are some ways to help gamblers.

Gambling is a big game. Gamblers are thrifty people who do stuff sporadically, randomly, and without prediction. Otherwise how would anyone be a gambler eh?

The high-seeing gambler has always believed in luck more than logic. Gambling is really not mathematics. There is not straightforward way to the answer. You slight of hand, your chancing of the arms, and a lot more determining your destiny.
Superstitions are a part of gambling, and are quite common. You would have heard scores of stories of rich gamblers gambling on a particular date, at a place, with somebody, at a particular time, and so on.

Interestingly, gamblers from around the world have similar superstitions. They share with each other information on what get’s them luck and what get’s them the sink.

Gamblers believe that their immediate surroundings determine their fortune for the day. It would not be a surprise to see chronic gamblers doing things that are well…a little odd.

Some common superstitions

Don’t break glass on the day of the gamble

When a gambler breaks a mirror or glass, there is not gambling for that day. Despite the lack of connection between a glass and a casino, there is definitely a symbolic connection. Like someone told the gambler not to gamble today. Assuming gamblers are god-believers, this is a serious superstition.

No sex

According to Chinese superstitions, sex can create bad energy around the body. Which translates into bad performance on the table. Gamblers need to be as celibate as possible. They should abstain from sexual contact, if they want their monies. The Chinese have lots of such superstitions relating to the creation of bad energy.

There are many ways to feed someone’s need for an adrenaline rush. Most options are not reasonable for everyone, however, either due to limitations. Physical issues may keep a person from skydiving, zip-lining or extreme sports. Since some can be quite expensive, they may not be right for those on a limited budget either. For these reasons, some people turn to gambling as something they see as cheaper and does not require physical capability.

The problem is that gambling can actually become much more costly than any other option when reason goes out the window and the gambling becomes an addiction. You might not think it can happen to you, but it actually can happen one of two ways. If a person getting started experiences some losses, they might chalk it up as not being well prepared and needing experience. This might cause them to keep going to gain experience which may drive them into more losses and then when frantically working to get it back, they get in big trouble.

The other way is when they experience a huge lucky streak right out of the gate. The euphoria of a big win, even if it is only a couple hundred dollars, can make them want to keep gambling in the hopes of becoming rich beyond belief. Obviously they’ll eventually hit some losses, but by then the cycle is started and the addiction has begun.

The best thing is to keep from getting addicted in the first place. Set goals for your gambling trip and stick to them. Walk away at the first sign of a problem.

Being a winner at a casino can be a very challenging endeavor. First off, just getting to one can be a serious challenge, as many states have complicated rules about allowing gambling establishments near major population centers. For many people, actually making it to a real brick and mortar casino is a serious challenge to undertake. However, there is a very good way around this logistical problem, which also grants some help in the winning department. Simply put, you can gamble online from home, and even get help to do so.

One great thing about online casinos is that there is often an online casino bonus that anyone can get. When it comes to winning at slots, blackjack or any other game, it helps to have every advantage you possibly can. The great thing about bonuses is how easily they can be made into cash in your pocket. While there do tend to be rules regarding when you can actually withdraw these bonuses, they are frequently very generous to the gambler who takes advantage of them.

You can hunt around for a casino that both offers the kinds of games you want to play, and offers nice bonuses for signing up and for depositing money. Keep in mind that having a solid policy in place for being able to withdraw your funds is also a valuable component of a good online casino. Winning all of the money on Earth is pretty pointless if you end up being unable to use it, after all. To be a winner, you do not need to leave the comfort of your computer or settle for just your personal bankroll.

No! its fine to have a flutter now and again.

But, if you feel a little uncomfortable reading this blog, or you know that you maybe spending a little more than you can afford, you could be on the brink of a more serious gambling problem. There maybe a couple of trigger points to look out for if you think your gambling could be getting out of control.

Your distracted at work and home, your itching to get to the pub or the TAB to place that bet. Your mind is on that hot tip at 3pm and you may become agitated if you can’t get there.

You may have told a lie and then another, as to your whereabouts or maybe why your salary hasnt quite covered all expenses this month

You shut out the ones you love, you don’t want to engage in conversation with your loved ones incase they ask an awkward question you dont want to answer

Seems kind of intuitive, right? Playing games in the casino requires a little knowledge of the specific game that you are planning on playing. Well, there is a little knowledge and a lot of knowledge. It is one thing to know the basic mechanics of how a game is played. That is all fine and dandy. It is quite another to know a little and get hosed time and time again.

Someone new to gaming is best served by at least learning the mechanics of the game before stepping inside. Playing games on a computer simulator is an excellent idea to get a feel for how the game plays. What a computer cannot simulate, however, is a human passing out the cards. The interaction steps to a different level. A beginner does themselves a favor by betting low and conservatively while picking the brains of the dealer. Most dealers are happy to provide information, and will be more forthcoming if appropriately tipped. Taking this strategy results in becoming a better gambler.

Intermediate players are not immune from the need to study their game of choice. Success depends largely on the skill of the player. Recognizing when to back off the play when the odds are in favor of the house is a skill acquired with study and time. Even the more skilled gamblers are not immune to giving their paycheck to the house when caught up in a rush. Do not get so involved that it costs money. Instead, learn to rely on the self-education and intuition that says it is time to back off. Investing time in learning how to play a game will pay off, provided one is smart about it.

Online casino gaming has become a popular past time in the last few years. It is estimated that there are at least 2,000 online casinos in operation. And just like any online business, not all are on the up and up. Scammers abound to take your money and run. So how is an average gambler supposed to know when an online casino is legitimate?

Legitimate operators will have their hands above the table, so to speak. Any and all information is available to the customer such as odds, payouts, even who provides the software to run the business. They will practically throw their honesty in your face, which really is a good thing. It will also be darn near impossible to find scam reports for a legit operation as the do everything they can to keep their customers happy. Not paying out a player is the fastest way to ruin a reputation. It also serves to keep gamblers away from the portal, causing a drop in revenues.

A dishonest online casino can look good on the surface, adhering to all of the practices that a legit casino does. The difference lies in that it becomes near impossible to get a payout if any at all. Some will just scream scam from the moment the browser loads the page. If there is any doubt, search for online casino scams to verify the feeling. Scam sites will tell you everything you wanted to know about a bad casino and then some. Be an educated player and don’t get taken by a bad operator. Taking a few minutes to do the background check makes all of the difference in the wallet.

Online casinos are a popular form of gambling, enabling the player to put his bets down from the comfort of his own home. However, not all are created equal. There are involuntary and voluntary restrictions that casinos have to deal with so read the fine print first. Some cannot be played in some countries and payments may have to be made through unusual methods.

All online casinos use a stand alone program as a kind of storefront. It will load in its own window and all play will occur in it. A legitimate casino will go to extra lengths to assure that the download is purely the gaming client and nothing else. They will also keep any information entered private and promise to not sell it to a third party. In a nutshell, everything is laid out on the table in order to demonstrate that they are not going to mess up your system or your personal information.

Check to make sure that the casino can be played in your home country before downloading the program. Usually this is stated very clearly on the landing page so as to save the potential player time and aggravation. There is nothing worse than downloading a gaming program only to find it has been a waste of time. Do not worry; there are plenty of online casinos to be had in every country, so you are not completely out of luck.

Payment is an important part of the process. The player has to fund a cashier in order to play any game. So how does one go about doing this? For starters, Paypal does not allow funds to be used for gambling, so do not waste your time there. The safest way to put funds into the casino is to do it through a Visa or Mastercard. Play it safe and research before sending any money through.

Gambling addiction is just like any other. It creeps up on you, becoming a full blown problem before you realize it. The changes in habit are subtle, with the human mind being able to justify any number of behaviors and problems. Hence the term “sweeping it under the rug.” It is entirely possible to enjoy gambling and stay away from the addiction, provided you are aware of the symptoms in the first place.

Before going into the symptoms of addiction, it’s a good idea to learn about what is normal first. It gives a standard to compare against in order to determine how serious the problem is. A normal gambler is someone who:

Goes to the casino on an infrequent basis, maybe two or three times a month.

The money that they set aside is all that they will spend on the trip.

Has no overwhelming urge to play any more than they already do.

Considers the activity to be a diversion, nothing more.

Someone who is starting the descent into addiction will leave this normal behavior behind. The drive to gamble takes over their lives. A compulsive gambler is someone who:

Spends their free time thinking about gambling.

Daily functions are impaired by the urge to gamble.

All available funds are spent to the point where bills are going unpaid.

Stealing becomes an option, something that was previously a line that would not be crossed.

Trips to the casino are frequent, ramping up to as many days a week as possible.

These are just a few of the signs that come with addiction. When any or all of them becoming apparent, it’s time to start seeking help. The early stages can be turned around without much, if any, assistance. Learn to recognize the symptoms in order to keep your life from going down the tubes. Gambling addictions ruin lives. The gambler suffers, the family suffers, and the effects will be felt for years.

Many a gambler comes up with a theory of how to place a bet in order to win, such as doubling down after a loss. The concept is that the money that was lost will be won back in the next roll of the dice or spin of the roulette wheel. This is absolute fantasy. There is no statistical law that says that the bet that follows a loss will be a winner. So many times a gambler comes in with a magical formula that is going to beat the house and walks away a loser. The key to coming out a winner is to study the odds of the house and stick to proven methods.

Casinos publish the odds of being able to win at a certain game. This is out there in solid black print for anyone to read. A consummate gambler will read the odds, study them, study the game and play out strategies that are based on fact in order to tilt the odds in their favor. No gambler will win 100% of the time. He will take losses from time to time. The difference here is that she will have a fatter wallet than someone who is using hoodoo odds.

Simply put, do not listen to the crack theories that are guaranteed to put thousands of dollars in your pocket. It is simply not going to happen. Instead, do your homework and understand the mechanisms of the game you choose to play. You will be in a much better position to win regularly. Your wallet will thank you as well.

Every once in a while we all do stupid things that can get us into minor trouble. Gambling tends to exacerbate the tendency to get stupid because of the tension that comes with putting money on the line. Controlling your behavior is key to staying in harmony with casino management.

There are plenty of dos and do nots to observe. Let’s take a look at the do nots to understand which behaviors to avoid:

Do not walk the slot machines, looking for a forgotten payout. The casino lays claim to any winnings that the player left behind and considers a customer who takes them a thief. As tempting as it may be to take the money, leave it alone. You will be seen doing the deed and kicked out, if not permanently banned.

Foul language is a big one, believe it or not. Certainly there’s the occasional blue word that flies around at the tables and by and large it is ignored. Indulging in f-bomb after f-bomb will elicit an entirely different reaction from staff. Excessive swearing can be construed as abusive to those around you. Casinos like to keep their environment pleasant so a foul mouth will be shown the door.

Don’t be a jerk. Carrying a chip on your shoulder or being simply obnoxious is frowned upon. It is akin to the foul language rule, but one can be a pain without having to use any kind of swear word. Lack of consideration for others will garner yourself an unfavorable result.

Taking pictures will sometimes create a problem. Make sure to check with the floor staff to find a safe place in the casino to take a photograph. Snapping a pic with a star is one thing, taking a family photo on the gaming floor is entirely another.

These are just a few of the items that will guarantee a one-way ticket to the sidewalk. Plenty of other poor behaviors will get you there as well. Play it safe, check the attitude at the door, relax and enjoy yourself.

Alabama’s newly elected governor, Robert Bentley, and his Attorney General, Luther Strange, have taken a different approach to gaming machines in the state than Bentley’s predecessor, Bob Riley. Riley and his administration waged long, costly, mostly ineffective legal battles against the video gaming industry. Bentley’s administration has made arrangements with the machine owners themselves to remove the machines from the state.

Alabama’s love-hate relationship with the gambling industry was expected to end in blissful matrimony with the election of Don Siegelman in 1999. Siegelman won on a platform of bringing the lottery to Alabama, joining sister states Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. Elected on the premise that Alabama could keep money residents spent in other states to bolster Alabama’s longsuffering education budget, Sieglelman soon lost support for the lottery when he told constituents to ignore their pastors’ anti-gambling pulpit messages.

Attacking religion isn’t the best way to win support in the Bible belt. Siegelman was later indicted on federal charges. While gambling remains illegal in Alabama, some loopholes in the law allowed certain operators of video gaming machines to operate in the state. Native Americans, operating under federal and not state laws, have remained open until Bentley’s inauguration in January 2011.

Until a popular vote is held statewide to decide the issue, gambling in any form is illegal under current Alabama law. Polls taken prior to Siegelman’s religious blunder showed strong support for a lottery in Alabama. Most voters say that anyone who wants to gamble can easily make the short drive across the state lines and spend their money in neighboring states.

The legal battles continue over gambling in the Deep South. Mississippi was an easier sell for casinos than her sister state, Alabama. Both have traditionally suffered in national educational standards, and education is usually the primary benefactor from state lottery money.

Alabama’s attorney generals and county sheriffs have waffled on video gaming machines. While most Alabama courts have held that any form of gambling is illegal under current state law, bingo by Native Americans and certain other owners of video gaming machines have fallen into a legal no-man’s land.

For years, arcades opened and operated for a brief time until shut down by sheriffs under orders from the attorney general. This was especially problematic in counties with chronic unemployment problems. There has not yet been a statewide public vote on gambling in Alabama, but polls indicate strong support of a state lottery.

Large numbers of Alabamians regularly cross state lines to buy lottery tickets in Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. Charter busses run regularly from many Alabama towns to casinos in Mississippi. Many residents resent the money that goes to educating children in neighboring states instead of their own.

Native Americans have been allowed to run video gaming machines under the bingo regulations provided by federal law. This has now been called into question as Alabama’s Attorney General Luther Strange has negotiated the removal of these machines from the state with their owners.

Georgia and Mississippi have reported improvements in education since legalizing gambling in their states. Facing more deep cuts in an already suffering educational system, Alabama may soon renew debate of legalizing some forms of gambling. Current Governor Robert Bentley has expressed disproval of legalized gambling in Alabama.

When betting online, it is best to do some research to find out if it is a reputable site. There are many cases of identity theft, credit card fraud and selling personal information. This can lead to thousands of dollars in legal fees and hours of phone calls and investigation to repair the damage that usually detrimentally affects one’s credit. The modus operandi of many of these sites is to gain your personal information, along with credit card information, and close up shop as soon as they have collected enough. This could lead to criminals opening up credit cards and bank accounts in other people’s names.

The best way to avoid scams is by researching them before making a bet. Sportsbook reviews are a great way to see if a site is appropriate and reputable. This means that the guess work and leg work of researching, or just taking chances, is limited with the help of online review sites. This can make the betting process much more enjoyable as there is plenty of peace of mind. The other feature of these review sites is that they also offer suggestions on sites that have already established a positive reputation. Using referrals from sites like this can make the user experience much more pleasant as the worry of credibility is eliminated.

Some of the key attributes of a reputable site will include a terms of use, an “about us” section, and possible legal use section. This lends further credence to a site’s credibility as they are placing in writing their contractual obligations to the consumer, as well as obligations that are the responsibility of the consumer. When sites do not disclose the wheres and whys of their operations, it usually means that they have something to hide. When in doubt, research. Remember the old saying: if it is too good to be true, it probably is!

Gambling addiction is an impulse control disorder. But just like addictions like drugs or alcohol, which are chemical dependency problems, gambling addicts are rarely able to just stop. Even if gambling leads to job loss, family problems or other serious consequences, the gambler will continue to bet.

You don’t have to gamble every day to have a gambling problem. Problem gamblers are those who are unable to stop or to avoid gambling, no matter how frequently or infrequently they play. They may blame family or other stressors for their need to gamble. They also frequently use guilt trips to get friends and family to pay off their gambling debts.

Successful treatments for problem gambling and gambling addiction recommend that friends and family refuse to pay off debts for the compulsive gambler. Allowing them to face the full consequences of their problem is often the only way to convince them that they need help.

Experts also say that partners of compulsive gamblers should refuse to take blame for the problem. Understand that the one who is gambling was not forced to do so by the actions of another person. They made their own decisions.

Finding a support group is the first step to freedom from gambling addiction. During the program, compulsive gamblers will learn how to manage life’s ups and downs in a positive, healthy way without placing a bet to relieve stress or celebrate a success.

Being able to afford gambling losses does not mean there isn’t a problem. It is not necessary to loose your life savings in order to have a gambling problem. Being unable to refrain from gambling is a problem whether you have the money or not.

Everyday, people head to Las Vegas hoping to hit the jack pot. Many people dream of the day when they will win a large sum of money and be on easy street for the rest of their lives. Most people think that they have better chances of winning a jack pot in Vegas than they do of winning the lottery. After all, there are thousands of machines with thousands of changes of winning. Some people even think that they get a feeling when luck is going to come their way, or believe in certain myths that will get them closer to winning. However, that is not the case. The chances of winning anything in Vegas is actually pretty slim, but not impossible.

The first thing to always remember is that it takes a lot of money to run casinos, and how do casinos make their money? Casinos make the majority of the their money because people love to gamble. There is always an allure to risking something and getting a reward. That feeling that people get when they gamble, that hope that someone gets when they pull the lever of the slot machine, that is what makes the casino money. In reality, casino slot machines are programed so that you lose around 83-90% of the time. The machines are programmed so that people win some of the time, but rarely. The odds of winning anything are pretty low, let alone the odds of winning the jack pot.

There are many people who feel that they get a lucky feeling which contributes to them winning. However, many researchers have proven that there is no connecting between feelings and winning. No matter how lucky you feel, the machine has already be programmed for thousands of tries in advance. Slot machines program themselves so that spin outcomes are already determined in advance. Not only are the machines programmed so that you will lose a good percentage of the time, but they are also programmed to have thousands of combinations lined up before you even walk through the door.

When someone that you know is spending large sums of money gambling and the behavior continues, you may think that they have a gambling addiction, but that may not be the case. There are several mental illnesses that have side effects that are similar to gambling addiction.

Several medications that are taken to treat Parkinson’s and Restless Leg Syndrome have side effects that can cause people taking the medication to act compulsively. Many of the people spend large amounts of money gambling. When these behaviors take place, loved ones assume that the person taking the medication has developed a gambling addiction. However, that is not likely the case.

People who suffer from gambling addiction have had the addiction for a considerable time. People who have a gambling addiction started gambling as a hobby and became increasingly involved with gambling until they were addicted. Unlike gambling addicts, someone taking a medication with similar side effects would only begin the behavior following starting the medication. The medication will likely mean that they will have other compulsive behaviors.

Many mental illnesses like schizophrenia and bi polarism have side effects that can look similar to gambling addiction. Many people suffering from these mental illnesses spend large sums of money but the spending is not continuous, rather, they spending is periodic and follows other manic behaviors. When someone suffering from these mental disorders lets their disorders go untreated with medication, they will express manic behavior followed by periods of normal behavior. Unlike gambling addicts who gamble continuously and without periods where they stop, someone suffering from a manic disorder will only behave in a compulsive manner when they are suffering from an episode. Their manic behavior is usually not only about gambling or spending large sums of money. They will most likely behaving compulsively in other areas as well. They might be acting unusual, driving recklessly, causing arguments. If the person you love sometimes behaves in a way that is manic, then you should consider getting them help.

When someone that you love has let you down or broken our trust it can be very difficult to want to be there for them. When someone that you love has developed an addiction to gambling, or is a compulsive gambler, by the time that they seek treatment, they are usually in debt, own a great of money, have broken ties with family and friends, and seem to care about nothing else other than their addiction.

It will be very difficult for you to forgive someone in your life after they have hurt you or broken your trust, but the most important thing to remember is that they have begun to accept help. If your family member has agreed to undergo treatment for their gambling addiction, then they have already taken the largest and most difficult step of the process. Admitting that they have a problem is half the battle.

The process of going through treatment for gambling addiction will be a long and difficult process for someone suffering from addiction. Like anyone else who is addicted to a substance, they will be working with twelve step program. Part of the program will be forcing the person with the addict to understand how they have hurt people and how their addiction has effected their lives. While the addict will never be able to make for the time that they took from you, you will be able to build a future.

Studies have shown that addicts with a support system are less likely to fall back into addiction again. It is important that your family member have someone their to support them through all the changes that they will be making in order to recover. Addicts will have to learn how to live their life again without gambling. For many addicts, their habit started because gambling was such a large part of their life. They had work meetings while gambling, met with friends. Learning to perform these tasks without gambling will be important and something that they will need support with.

Many players who are new to casinos tend to explore the different rooms, until they find a game that catches their eye. Gambling socially may revolve around the more popular games with friends who hold a deep interest specifically in that game. Here are some easy ways to improve your gambling results.

Friends

Find people that really like the same game you are interested in. If you don’t know anyone start to visit local bingo halls, neighborhood slot machines, or in local casinos. This is one way to get into a number of different circles or clubs. Being associated with these people many times leads to being invited to unadvertised gambling events. The entry fee to play can be kept low to make it affordable and to keep tensions down.

Become Known

Being a good person that gets along well and helps parties stay interesting is one way to become known. Host a party and invite at least one new person to come and bring a friend along. Playing new people regularly helps keep your skills extremely sharp.

Increase Wins

Increase the number of games you win by studying. Whatever game you love take time out each day to become better. This could be through reading books authored by professional gamblers or playing friends online. Never let your friends know where you are picking up new ideas. Learn new strategies to become a better player. Giving people a bit of competition keeps social gatherings at a friends house or in the casinos exciting. Going to the casino is only one way to gamble.

You can increase your odds of wining by practicing on the weeks you don’t make it there with friends. Friendships developed while playing can make great friends to bring along on planned gambling vacations. Use these tips to improve your gambling results.

Poker is the most American of all card games. Simply mention this famous pastime and everyone pictures a group of dusty cowhands playing poker in a Wild West saloon. Let’s take a closer look at this game from its beginnings to the modern day.

The History of Poker

Although Americans claim poker as their own game, it actually got its start when French immigrants in New Orleans played a game called Poque that involved both betting and bluffing in the early 1800s. Soon, this popular game was traveling up and down the Mississippi on the Riverboats. From there, it spread through the rest of the country. Although no one really knows when today’s popular game known as Texas Hold ‘Em was originally created, it has caught the attention of today’s poker player.

The Current Trends

With the rise of online poker and televised poker tournaments, more and more people are interested in learning how to play Texas Hold ‘Em. In fact, you don’t have to look further than your local bar to find poker clubs and regular tournaments. This craze has also led to an increase in sales of items like poker chips and custom poker tables for home game rooms, and business in Las Vegas has never been better.

The Social Aspects

Both online poker games and neighborhood leagues provide the opportunity for people to socialize while taking part in a fun activity. Many people feel awkward chatting online without a specific topic and feel even more awkward going out to a bar alone. Poker provides a common activity and a topic of conversation to smooth everything over until relationships are formed and small talk comes a little easier. Unlike bowling or softball, the sedentary and the disabled can participate on an equal footing with the naturally athletic.

Poker in general, and Texas Hold ‘Em specifically, has captivated Americans for 200 years, and it looks like this trend will continue well into the future.

Many people feel that all forms of gambling is simply a numbers game. Many of these feelings maybe from savvy gamblers who have tried to learn the details of their favorite games inside and out. Counting the cards or memorizing the layout and way a of certain dealer operates can take practice.

Some local games and neighborhood gambling halls let you pick the winning numbers. Many people have their own system of coming up with winning numbers. This could be through their dreams, star signs, or numbers that show up often during the day.

In the local gambling halls there is always photos and proof that they do cash or prize awards. State lotteries also do the same thing. Some states will list the statistics for your local on the websites. It may include total revenue collected, amount of winnings, and how much is awared to charities or the state who runs the lottery.

Casinos are set up so that no one really wins consistently. There is not really a way to know the true odds when you sit down at a table or run some coins through a slot machine. Some professional gamblers do know how to win with people who are playing somewhat fair, or after feeling out the casino.

The statistical odds of wining and getting a large monetary return in casinos are not really known. Some casinos do list some statistics, but since they are run independently there really is no way to know the true numbers.

Many players do experience good returns at blackjack, craps table, or even with scratch off tickets. One thing that certainly is not reported is the price to win, or how much money is spent before the money rolls in. Studying the game and limiting how much your gamble may be one way to keep the money you do win.

Gambling addictions can be just as devastating as having a drug problem. Many bad habits seem as though the person is not hurting anyone else. People often tell themselves that anything they are doing will have repercussions that will effect them alone. This often is not the case because people are always connected in some way to another person. Their actions may have an unintended effect on friends, family, even co workers.

It is possible to harm yourself through a personal gambling addiction. The results may not be immediately seen of course. Since our economy is based on money flowing to use from selling goods or working, keeping some money is necessary to survive. Many people gamble too much of their immediate resources and start to have money problems, and can’t meet basic needs. In a sense the gambling has robbed them of their time spent working at their jobs or being entrepreneurial. Not being able to make rent or eat can take a toll on your self esteem. Often the gambler simply wants to hit the slots to make ends meet.

Experienced gamblers feel more in control of their addiction. They may have invested years of practice into learning how to beat the odds at numerous game tables. Never will they admit to having an addiction and often try to limit their funds used for gambling.

Gambling often creates a need to lie and hide what is going on with the money. This may cause the gambler to put forth a lot of effort to cover each lie that is told. Judging a gambler with harsh words often never solves anything. Many loved ones will see through these lies, but feel powerless to stop the gambling. Hitting a personal rock bottom is often not enough of a reason to stop. Seek professional help to help a loved one with a gambling addictions.

Gambling for many people is simply a way to unwind and have a good time with friends. Going to the same local spots for games sometimes can be a bit routine. You may want to experience something new. Many people plan vacations or weekend trips to break up the monotony of what is offered locally. Here are some tips on how to find the best casinos for vacation.

Travel Agents

Many people have stopped using travel agents and try to book their travel exclusively online. Many travel agents know about all of the casinos that are perfect for your vacation. There may be several destinations that you are unaware of. Creating the best vacation involves knowing exactly what is available.

Excursions and Performances

Rarely are vacations taken alone. Booking excursion away from the hotel and casino is a great way to keep a spouse that is not into gambling each day of the trip occupied. Going to a performances like plays or concerts may be a great way to experience the nightlife.

Casino

Some cities have numerous casinos in them. Always read online reviews of the hotel within a casino before deciding to stay there. Many travel agents will pull this information up for you. Staying in four to five star hotels, sometimes eliminates this problem. Some casinos are not luxurious, even though the nightly rate is expensive.

Take time to talk with a travel agent to find out how to experience the best casinos throughout the entire vacation. Tell the agent what is most important to you after leaving the casino. This could be quick access to great restaurants, shopping, or even the ocean. Use these tips to plan your vacation at a casino.

As Internet technology has become more reliable and popular, many people have turned to online casinos to play games like poker, baccarat and roulette. Although online casinos have not been around for very long, they have already had a significant impact on the gaming industry.

A Brief History of Online Casinos

Online casino games first became feasible during the Internet boom in the 1990s. Before then, website developers did not have the technology to make online casinos accessible to the average person. Once they discovered ways to integrate graphics, sounds, random number generators and player interactions into a single screen, though, it was possible for companies to reveal online casinos that did a surprisingly good job of replicating the experience of playing games at a real casino.

As technology improved and Internet speeds became faster, online casinos grew. Today, the average Internet user has a fast enough speed to interact with live dealers and other players in real time. This has dramatically improved the experience and convinced many players that the convenience of online casino games makes them a good alternative to playing in traditional casinos.

Choosing an Online Casino

The popularity of Internet gambling means that more companies have started their own online casinos. You can choose a good online casino by comparing their options and services.

Most players prefer online gaming sites that use real money. By giving the casino your account information, you can play with real money instead of virtual cash. When you lose, the money gets transferred to another player or the casino depending on which game you play. When you win, the money goes into your account.

Read reviews of online casinos to choose legitimate companies that focus on strong customer services. You want to choose an option with a good user interface and intuitive controls, but you also want to know that the online casino is trustworthy. It’s not purely about flash; confidence in the casino matters too.
